Whose fault is it anyway?

The title here refers to all of us, who are today cribbing about the kind of governance prevailing in our country. So this question is not only for people reading this, its also for me as I consider myself a culprit by not voting. So are we entitled to crib about the kind of governance we have today?

Sadly NO !!

The entitlement to crib about the governance solely lies with the people who have voted to elect the government. I sincerely applaud the people who vote in the elections, because they are at least trying to bring a change in the governance. What are we doing? Only cribbing with a rainbow of reasons in our closet.

India is a reactive country and not a pro active one. In the context that the country reacts to a situation and not anticipate it. The outcome to this is anybody's guess. Yes there are innumerable questions we mean to ask for the plight of our country, just one of which I am asking myself today " Whose fault is it anyway?". I do not want to be critical of anybody's answer, but in the meanwhile the problem persists.

If we talk a little about the Indian politics, we can clearly make out that the politics prevailing today in India is clearly the vote bank politics. Which means that each government has their own policies to safeguard their vote bank. May it be through the way of manifestation of quotas for the backward classes, or providing laptops, TV's to the poor etc. All this is not making India any stronger economically in any ways. Moreover isn't it a clear case of Vote for Money ( or equivalent)? Yes the politics in India is dirty, but who lets it be that ways? In a recent survey out of 4000 odd MP's/ MLA's in our country about 1400 have criminal backgrounds. Need I say more? The fact that not guilty unless convicted is understandable, but looking at the state of affairs of our judicial system, it takes decades of hearings for a case to be solved. I can hear Sunny deol in my ear with his famous dialogue from Damini "Tareek pe tareek milti hai Judge sahib par insaaf nahin milta."

I am very critical of providing quotas to the backward classes not because of the reason that I am from a well to do middle class family, but because of the soul history of this quota system. The various quotas have been in place since long, and I understand that the same is for providing a fair competition. So I believe that in the past 65 years of existence of Free India this should have changed the amount of people in the backward classes. But has it? The population below poverty line today (Estimated 340 Million) is almost the total population of India in 1947. The story does not stop here, we still have more and more people coming everyday for reservations.

We need to move forward and reservations wont help us in any way. I would say the point of view of our government is what needs to be criticized here. Instead of providing quotas to the backward people wont it be more helpful to provide them with free education in schools and give them a fair competition? But then this will deplete their vote bank will it not?

We boast of our country being the biggest democracy, but is it really that? I still believe we are a communalistic society fighting amongst each other every day for petty things. We still stand divided on the basis of Caste, creed, religion etc. The fact that the politicians are able to incite us on these grounds is a failure of all of us as human beings.

Our country boasted of a growth rate of 9% in very recent history, but has it transformed to social development is the real question. The divide between the rich and the poor still keeps widening. From people living in 2 Billion USD homes to people sleeping on the roads is the kind of difference I am talking about here. Stark Isn't it?

Lets talk a little about our leaders. Ms Sonia Gandhi, nobody still has a clear understanding if she has even renounced her Italian citizenship. People are made to believe that she sacrificed the post of PM and asked Mr Maunmohan Singh to take the rein. Everybody knows who is calling the shots in the centre don't we? I wouldn't like to talk about Mr Manmohan Singh because there is a famous proverb by the 10th guru of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh ji " Chidi Naal je baaj ladawan tan gobind singh naam dharawan" ( Please correct me if I am wrong) which I can co-relate with any Sardar I have come along. Well Mr Manmohan Singh is far far away from being able to say this.

Our self proclaimed youth Icon Mr Rahul Gandhi, he disappears from the scene like "Gadhe k sar se seengh" when the situation demands a leader. In recent disclosure by Dr Swamy he isnt a graduate from Harward School as told by him. Well like mother like son. Both of them have not yet provided a certificate from the Govt of Italy renouncing their Italian citizenship. Still Mr Rahul Gandhi is being projected as the next face of Congress.

I can list out a few hundred names here, but that is not what I am trying to say, what I am trying to say is that it is the fault of us people because of whom these people are able to lead our country to where it is going now.

In another statistic, there has been only 1 leader outside of Indian National congress party who has ever been able to complete the full 5 year term at the centre. That is none other than Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee. A very respected political figure he was able to win the elections in 1996, but unfortunately couldnt prove majority in the parliament and the govt lasted only 13 days. In 1998 he again won the elections and finally came to power for the full 5 year term. Let me remind that he was the first Foreign minister of India who made a speech in Hindi in UN general assembly meet in 1977. This in my eyes shows the spine that he possessed. Another true person with a backbone today in the Indian politics is Mr Modi. He needs no introduction not only in Gujarat but throughout the country, which today needs a leader like him. He may be tainted but which Minister today isn't? Atleast he works for the development which is clearly evident with the recent history of gujarat, and his re-election as the CM of Gujarat for the third time.

Blaming the leaders is a very easy task, but taking the blame is not. I would today like to take the blame for the state of affairs our country is in today. For the governance that we see today. For electing people who have criminal backgrounds.

The story doesnt end here. We need to improve this situation which can only be done by polling votes. Polling for the right reasons, looking at the bigger picture. Lets vote for independent people instead of polling for the tainted people. If India is a democracy, lets show these people who is the BOSS here. We have been at fault for the past 65 years, its high time that we start making amends in our behavior and become a pro active voter and make changes to the country.

I know I am not able to reach to the people, but I guess as an informed citizen of our country I need to try and do my part at the least. Hence tomorrow if you dont get justice dont tell the CM or the PM that it is their fault. Sit and ask yourself " Whose fault is it anyway"

Peace
